We have had some questions about the EEG results...
Right now they can't really give us any results because Charlie Claire's brain is pretty "mad" from everything that happened to it yesterday.
Saturday/Sunday-ish we should have a better idea of what is going on. Once the neuro can determine if there is still seizure activity we will know if Charlie Claire has to have more area removed or if she just needs to have the grid removed. This will also determine if she is having a quick 20 min surgery on wednesday or if it will be a more complicated, intricate surgery similar to yesterday.
Still asking for lots of thoughts and prayers as we wait to get the results...
Charlie Claire has had a great day for the most part. There have been a couple hiccups but nothing super major. She woke up this afternoon and was kicking her legs and trying to suck on her hands. C was up a little bit today but was itchy so they gave her some benedryl and she has been sleeping since.
Thank you for the continued support...we love getting all your emails and texts and we do try to respond, even if it takes a little while!!!
Still thinking of you all and hoping for that quick surgery on Wednesday. Is CC on morphine? Morphine made Sophie itchy. Keep those nails cut short...I learned the hard way ;)
ReplyDeleteHi Elaine,
ReplyDeleteThanks for all your messages and support!
Yes, C is on morphine...low dose but still morphine. They did say that would make her itchy and the benedryl certainly helped!
Thanks again!
K
ps how s your daughter doing? I saw that she has been having seizures again...
I've been checking your updates several times a day!!! Praying for your girl and you!
ReplyDeleteYes...she is. But we had 11 wonderful months of seizure freedom after surgery in which she made HUGE gains developmentally. She went from only saying a handful of words to now speaking in 5-7 word sentences. I am very hopeful that the Zonegran/Vigabatrin combo that she is on now will get them under control again. We are almost there!!!
ReplyDeleteSophie had a left subtotal hemi (all but the motor cortex). And the left motor cortex is where the seizures are now located at. But I am SO GRATEFUL that they did not take the motor cortex. It made recovery that much easier. But I wonder where she would be now (seizure-wise) if they had performed the MST on the motor cortex. Have they talked about the MST procedure with you?
