Neuro Visit and news about PT

It is crazy how worked up I used to get before Charlie Claire's visit to the neurologist.  I used to lose sleep over it, have lists of questions for the dr, etc.  and now it is seriously like going in for a "well baby check up!" Those were actually Dr. M's words, I just stole them! :)

Charlie Claire had a great time at VCU today.  She was being her normal cute self...flirting with the nurses, running around, etc.  It was actually nice to see her like this since for a while just walking into a dr's office would instantly cause her to shut down.  This is the first visit (to any dr) in a long time that she didn't cry when they listened to her heart or tried to take her blood pressure. I have a feeling that after her surgery next week we may take a few steps backwards but I digress!

Dr. M was super pleased at how well Charlie Claire is doing.  He said she is excelling developmentally and couldn't be more complementary about how great she looked and where she is at currently.  We were given the go ahead to decrease her keppra yet again and then after two weeks stop it completely.  We are really hoping things continue to go well with the taper and then once it's totally out of her system so at that point C will only be on ONE seizure medication! She has been on 2 + since she was 3 months old!!!! It will be such a blessing to have her down to one medication.

The one thing that is hard for me is to not get ahead of myself and think into the future.  We don't know if there will be any other seizure types that ever pop up as Charlie Claire starts to use other parts of her brain.  She (along with anyone) can have new issues arise while the brain is growing and maturing which is about to age 16.  At the same time nothing may ever pop up...so I am trying to constantly remind myself that I need to take one day at a time and just be super grateful for what we have gotten through and where we are at now.  If I get too far ahead of myself I will just be heading down an unnecessary road.  If something ends up happening we will deal with it when it happens.

Sweet girl ready to hit the road!

Exhausted after a good visit with Dr. M.
Ok...so now on to Physical Therapy.  I am going to keep this part short and sweet since I don't want to cry. This morning was Charlie Claire's LAST PT session.  It is unbelievable how well our sweet baby girl is doing! :)
